National Bank of Cambodia issued letter No. Th7.019.122 S.Ch.N dated on 15 February 2019 to inform accounting standards for financial institutions under the supervision of National Bank of Cambodia.
| Types of institutions | Accounting standards |
| Commercial banks, specialized banks and microfinance deposit-taking institutions | Must implement Cambodian International Financial Reporting Standards (CIFRS) |
| Microfinance institutions, leasing companies and rural credit operators | Has option to implement Cambodian International Financial Reporting Standards or Cambodian International Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium Enterprises (CIFRS for SMEs). However, for the purpose of reporting to NBC, these institutions must implement CIFRS for SMEs. |
